本试剂盒以二甲苯作为石蜡包埋组织的脱蜡剂，采用酶解法裂解组织且通过特殊的孵育步骤逆转甲醛交联，利用硅胶膜离心柱特异地吸附DNA，适用于从福尔马林等固定液固定组织、石蜡包埋组织块和切片中提取基因组DNA。提取的基因组DNA适用于PCR、qPCR等实验。
